What Is AIforce? Salesforce's New AI Layer Explained
AIforce brings Salesforce data and workflows into Claude, Slack, and Lightning. Here's what it is, what launched, and what it means for your team.

AIforce is Salesforce's new interface layer that brings your Salesforce data, workflows, business logic, permissions, and governance into the AI tools your teams already use, such as Claude, Slack, and Lightning. Instead of logging into Salesforce and clicking through screens, people can ask questions, update records, and trigger workflows from wherever they work.
Salesforce unveiled AIforce at Dreamforce on September 15, 2026, describing it as a live interface layer that takes the full power of the platform to wherever people and agents work. If you've been searching "what is AIforce" since the keynote, this guide covers what it is, how it works, what launched, and what it means for your Salesforce org.
What is AIforce, in simple terms?
For more than two decades, getting value out of Salesforce meant going to Salesforce: opening the app, finding the right record, building the right report. AIforce flips that model.
With AIforce, Salesforce comes to the user, whether that's in Claude, Slack, Lightning, or another environment. Employees who have never opened a dashboard can ask questions, update records, and kick off workflows, all grounded in real Salesforce data and business logic.
It also changes what the interface itself looks like. Rather than working through a fixed set of layouts and fields, users can create custom live interfaces on the fly just by describing what they need, inside platforms like Slack, Claude, and Coworker.
Marc Benioff summed up the idea on stage: "AI is creating an interface revolution."
Why Salesforce built AIforce
Most companies already have a huge amount of knowledge living in Salesforce. The problem has been access. Salesforce itself acknowledged that because most people could only reach that knowledge by opening the app and navigating the UI, it limited who used Salesforce, how much information they could see at once, and how much value they got out of it.
AIforce is designed to remove that bottleneck for both people and AI agents. Agents can read across hundreds of records at once, pull in connected systems, and reason and act with a full view of the business.
How AIforce fits into the Salesforce platform
AIforce doesn't replace anything you already have. It sits on top of it. Salesforce positions it as a new layer in its Agentic Enterprise architecture, alongside Data 360 for unified data and memory, Customer 360 for business logic, processes, and permissions, and Agentforce as the digital workforce.
A simple way to picture the stack:
- Data 360: the unified, trusted data foundation
- Customer 360: the apps, processes, and permissions that run sales, service, marketing, and commerce
- Agentforce: the AI agents that do the work
- AIforce: the delivery layer that brings all of the above into any AI interface
AIforce vs Agentforce: what's the difference?
This is one of the most common questions after Dreamforce, and the distinction is straightforward. Agentforce is the digital workforce, meaning the AI agents actually doing tasks, while AIforce is the delivery layer that puts Salesforce's data and logic inside whichever tool you're using. concret
In other words, Agentforce is who does the work. AIforce is where and how your people and agents reach Salesforce. If your company has already invested in Agentforce, AIforce builds on that investment rather than competing with it.
What launched with AIforce: Claudeforce, Slackforce, and Agentforce Coworker
AIforce launched with three implementations, Claudeforce, Slackforce, and Agentforce Coworker, and Salesforce says more are coming.
Claudeforce (Salesforce in Claude)
Claudeforce extends the Salesforce and Anthropic partnership, and it debuts with Salesforce in Claude, which packages Salesforce's intelligence into a prebuilt MCP server inside Claude without the manual setup, complex authentication, and custom skill mapping these integrations typically require.
What's included today:
- 37 prebuilt sales skills covering everything from prospecting to pipeline hygiene
- Coming soon: Tableau analytics plus skills for service, marketing, commerce, and industries
- For developers, a Salesforce Development plug-in for Claude Code with more than 40 skills and access to Salesforce's broader skills library on GitHub
Salesforce in Claude was piloted by companies including Deloitte, GitLab, and Legora and is now available to all customers in beta.
Slackforce
Slackforce brings Salesforce context into every Slack conversation. Key pieces include:
- Slackforce Surfaces: live, interactive interfaces built from Salesforce, Slack, and other tools that a whole team can filter, explore, comment on, and act on together in real time
- Slackbot: a personal assistant that can, for example, spot accounts going quiet, figure out why by reading the related support cases and Slack threads, reassign an owner, create a follow-up task, and draft a win-back email
- Slack CRM: lets users create accounts, log call notes, and update records with a simple prompt, without opening a separate CRM tool
- Slack Code: a shared space where teams work with a coding agent on a specific session or project together
Agentforce Coworker
Agentforce Coworker is an AI teammate inside the Lightning interface that reasons across accounts, activity, and history to surface insights and take action. It calls the specialized Agentforce agents you've already built, and it can be switched on with the push of a button, with no migration and no new permissions model. Adoption has been fast: one hundred thousand users activated Coworker within its first 35 days.
Is AIforce secure?
For most IT and security leaders, this is the first question, and Salesforce has built AIforce around its existing trust model:
- Existing permissions apply: every request runs on your current permissions and business rules, so an agent only sees what the person asking can see, and every action routes back through Salesforce
- Zero Data Retention: business data is used to answer the question at hand and isn't retained by the model provider
- No rebuild required: Salesforce says there's no new permissions model, no migration, and no custom integration work, since admins connect once and teams get access from day one
Our recommendation: confirm the exact data terms with your Salesforce account team, since details can vary by agreement.
What AIforce means for your team
For sales and service teams: less time navigating screens, more time acting on insights. Reps can prep for a call, update a record, or check pipeline health from Claude or Slack.
For executives: leaders who rarely open dashboards get direct, conversational access to live business data.
For admins and developers: a new building surface. Teams that want to go further can use MCPs, APIs, plug-ins, and skills to build interfaces, agents, and views on top of trusted data. All of this runs on what Salesforce calls the Headless Toolkit, the open architecture that exposes every element of the platform to builders.
The catch: AIforce is only as good as the data and permissions underneath it. If your org has duplicate records, inconsistent fields, or overly broad access, AI will surface those problems faster, not hide them.
Is AIforce available now? Pricing and availability
Availability varies by component. Salesforce in Claude is in beta for all customers, and Agentforce Coworker is available now. As of this writing, Salesforce has not published AIforce pricing. Salesforce also notes that pricing and packaging may change and availability can vary by region. gptfy
How to get ready for AIforce
We're recommending five steps to the companies we work with:
- Audit your data quality. Clean up duplicates, stale records, and inconsistent fields in the objects your teams use most.
- Review permissions and sharing rules. Because AIforce respects existing access, now is the time to make sure those rules reflect reality.
- Pick two or three high-value use cases. Pipeline reviews, account prep, and service case summaries are strong starting points.
- Pilot Salesforce in Claude with a small group. Measure time saved and adoption before scaling.
- Plan for change management. New interfaces change habits. Train your teams on how to ask good questions, not just which buttons to click.
