How to Get the Most Out of Dreamforce 2025
Dreamforce isn't just a conference; it's a phenomenon. As a company that has already attended this incredible event, we've gathered the ultimate guide to help you get the most out of every minute, from pre-planning to post-conference follow-up.

Dreamforce isn't just a conference; it's a phenomenon. Every year, tens of thousands of Salesforce trailblazers, innovators, and enthusiasts descend upon San Francisco for an unparalleled week of learning, networking, and inspiration. But with so much on offer such as countless sessions, keynotes, workshops, and parties – it can be overwhelming to navigate.
How do you ensure you're not just attending, but truly maximizing your experience at Dreamforce 2025? As a company that has already attended this incredible event, we've gathered the ultimate guide to help you get the most out of every minute, from pre-planning to post-conference follow-up.
Phase 1: Pre-Dreamforce — Strategic Planning is Key
The success of your Dreamforce experience begins long before you set foot in San Francisco. A little preparation goes a long, long way.
1. Define Your Goals (and Stick to Them!) Before you even look at the agenda, sit down and identify your top 3-5 objectives for Dreamforce. Are you looking to:
- Learn about specific Salesforce products or features (e.g., Einstein AI, Data Cloud, Flow)?
- Network with peers, potential clients, or partners?
- Earn certifications or badges?
- Gain insights into industry trends?
- Meet with Salesforce product managers or executives?
Having clear goals will act as your compass throughout the entire event.
2. Master the Agenda – Early & Often: The Dreamforce agenda is massive, typically released a few weeks in advance and it changes up to the last day.
Prioritize Sessions: Go through the entire session catalog. Bookmark sessions directly related to your goals. Don't just pick one per time slot; have backups in case a session is full or doesn't meet expectations.
Mix & Match: While focusing on your goals, also aim for a variety:
Keynotes: Essential for big announcements and inspiration.
Breakout Sessions: Deep dives into specific topics.
Hands-on Workshops: Practical, skill-building opportunities.
Theater Sessions: Shorter, often more focused presentations.
Download the Official App “Salesforce Events”: This will be your best friend on-site. It allows you to build your personal schedule, find session locations, get real-time updates, and network.
3. Schedule Key Meetings Ahead of Time: Don't rely on serendipity for crucial connections.
Identify Target Individuals/Companies: Who do you absolutely need to meet? Reach out to them via LinkedIn, email, or through your Salesforce contacts before Dreamforce.
Book 1:1 Meetings: Schedule short, focused meetings (e.g., 15-30 minutes) in designated meeting areas or a quiet corner of the campus. Be respectful of people's busy schedules.
Vendor Booth Visits: If there are specific vendors you want to engage with, consider contacting them beforehand to arrange a dedicated discussion, rather than just hoping to bump into them.
4. Pack Smart – San Francisco Style: San Francisco weather is notoriously fickle.
Layers are Life: You'll experience everything from cool, foggy mornings to warm afternoons, and chilly evenings, often within the same day. Pack layers you can easily add or remove.
Comfortable Shoes: This cannot be stressed enough. You will be walking miles every day, both within the Moscone Center and exploring the city. Leave your not-so-comfortable shoes at home and thank us later!
Portable Charger: Your phone will be working overtime with the app, social media, and photos. A fully charged power bank is essential.
Small Backpack/Cross-body Bag: For your essentials, swag, and session notes.
Phase 2: During Dreamforce — Maximize Every Moment
You've arrived! Now it's time to put your plan into action and make the most of the immersive Dreamforce environment.
1. Embracing the "Trailblazer Spirit": Dreamforce is all about community and learning. Be open, be curious, and be ready to engage.
2. Navigate the Campus Like a Pro: The Moscone Center is huge, often spilling into surrounding hotels and venues.
Study the Map: Familiarize yourself with the layout using the official event app. Know where the main keynotes, your priority sessions, and the Campground are located.
Allow Travel Time: Don't schedule back-to-back sessions across different buildings. Factor in 15-20 minutes to walk between locations, use escalators, and navigate crowds.
Travel Light: Leave your laptop and large electronic devices safely in the hotel. You won’t always have ready access to a safe place to store them and large heavy bags can be a hassle in security lines.
3. Be Strategic About Sessions & Learning!
Arrive Early: For popular sessions, especially hands-on workshops, arrive at least 15-30 minutes early to secure a spot.
Engage & Ask Questions, Even If You’re Shy: Don't be a passive observer. Raise your hand, participate in polls, and connect with presenters.
Take Notes (Digitally or Old-School): Capture key takeaways, insights, and action items. The content moves fast, and you won't remember everything without notes.
Don't Over-Schedule: It's tempting to fill every slot, but burnout is real. Leave gaps for impromptu meetings, exploring the Campground, or simply recharging.
4. Power Up Your Networking: Dreamforce is a goldmine for connections.
The Campground: This is the heart of Dreamforce, where you'll find demo stations, Salesforce product experts, and plenty of opportunities to mingle. Don't just grab swag; ask questions and connect.
Lunch & Coffee Breaks: These are prime networking times. Don't eat alone; join a table, introduce yourself, and chat.
Official & Unofficial Parties/Events: Many companies host receptions and happy hours. Check the app and social media for announcements. These are often more relaxed environments for genuine conversations.
LinkedIn & QR Codes: When you meet someone interesting, connect on LinkedIn immediately. Useful tip: Have your own QR code ready for easy sharing.
Follow Up Promptly: (More on this in Phase 3!)
5. Visit the Expo (The "Dreamforce Campground"): Beyond product demos, the Campground is where you can see the ecosystem in action.
Identify Key Vendors: Based on your goals, know which partners you want to speak with.
Ask Smart Questions: Don't just listen to sales pitches. Ask how their solutions integrate with your existing tech stack or solve specific challenges you face.
Collect Smart Swag: Prioritize useful items over clutter. A charging cable is better than a stress ball, usually (that’s ultimately up to you).
6. Recharge and Reflect: Dreamforce is exhilarating but draining.
Build in Down Time: Even 30 minutes of quiet reflection, a quick walk outside, or a coffee break can make a huge difference.
Stay Hydrated & Eat Well: Easy to forget amidst the chaos, but crucial for maintaining energy. Bring your refillable water bottle and don't be shy filling it up at water stations around the campus. (We love our Platypus brand collapsable bottles that shrink as you drink and roll up when you're done.)
Embrace the City (Within Reason): If you have free evenings, explore a neighborhood, grab dinner with new connections, or catch a famous landmark. We recommend taking a look at one of our latest blog posts if you want to know more about activities to do in San Francisco during your stay (if you have the time and/or energy, that is).
Phase 3: Post-Dreamforce — The Real Work Begins
Don't let the Dreamforce "high" fade without solidifying your gains. The work you do after the conference is just as important as the work you put in during it.
Organize Your Takeaways: Immediately after the event, review your notes and scan business cards. Convert key lessons and announcements into actionable steps for you or your team.
Follow Up Smartly: Don't wait. Send personalized LinkedIn messages to new contacts within 48 hours, referencing your specific conversation. Prioritize and schedule calls with your most valuable connections.
Share Your Learnings: Bring the value back to your team. Create a brief presentation or a summary document to share key insights, product updates, and how they can be applied to your business.
Keep the Momentum: Stay engaged year-round by joining Trailblazer Community groups. Continue applying new skills and start thinking about your goals for next year's event.
Dreamforce is a launchpad for your professional growth and a celebration of the Salesforce Ohana. By implementing these strategies, you won't just attend sessions—you'll truly connect with a global community of innovators and leave inspired, equipped with the knowledge and network to blaze new trails all year long.
See you at Dreamforce!
